PSIP-TRX Overview

PSIP Meta data contains essential tuning and channel information utilized by consumer receivers. In some cases broadcasters may transmit their signal into multiple markets requiring this tuning and channel information to be changed to meet FCC requirements. PSIP.TRX allows broadcasters to change the Meta data, in real time**.

PSIP.TRX is DTV Innovations’ software based solution for processing and re-distributing the Meta data (SI/PSI) embedded in the MPEG transport stream. The SI/PSI carries the program information (PID, service ID, descriptors, and fundamental video/audio reference data), channel information (channel number, service provider, service/network/transport stream ID etc.). With PSIP.TRX data elements can be modified within the transport stream and re-generated in the final output multiplex.

** This is a function of the hardware / IO interface that is attached to PSIP.TRX software.

Applications

PSIP.TRX has successful deployments in the U.S. market and is known for its flexibility and easy integration. It processes the IP carousel SI/PSI/PSIP data as well as modifying the transport stream in real time. TRX is offered either as an “add-on” to our PSIP product when necessary, or as a standalone package which can be installed separately.
